You can find evidence of anything in your life

Hey Bloomers! 🌼 You are capable of deciding what you want your reality to be, partly through the power of perception. You can find evidence of anything in your life, and that is why it is crucial to focus your attention on things that are beneficial, instead of those that have adverse impacts. Whatever you want to believe, you will find evidence for. This is both a power and a curse, and you need to use the former while disregarding the latter.

What exactly does this mean?

The idea that you can find evidence of anything in your life may be a difficult one to apprehend, but I’ll use nature to explain, since we are all a part of nature.

Imagine for a second that you have planted two seeds. After doing this, you give all your attention to the first seed. You water it, and make sure that it has enough nutrients and sunlight. The second seed, however, is completely ignored. You know what will happen? The first seed will grow. And the lesson to be learnt from this is that what you focus on, will grow

Your thoughts will always find supporting evidence

If you believe and focus on the fact that you have a miserable life, you will always find evidence to back up your claim! This evidence will come in different forms, but will continue to feed the idea that you have a miserable life.

You will notice and focus on the miserable things in your life, both big and small. For example, one person may focus on the fact that they don’t have enough money to buy a car so they have to use public transport to get to work. Or that someone they thought was their friend betrayed them. They’ll even focus on smaller things in their day like the fact that the Starbucks barrister messed up their order! Or their favourite shirt got stained. Ah, what a miserable life! 🤦🏽‍♂️😔

However, the opposite is also true. And this is where perception comes in. If you choose to believe that you have a blessed and happy life, you will always find evidence to back this up.

So, instead of focusing on the fact that they “have” to use public transport, the previously mentioned person could instead focus on the fact that they actually have a job and a means of getting there. Even with a friend’s betrayal, they’d be happy to see the lessons that they are being taught. And with the smaller things in their day – they could focus on the fact that they found some money in their pocket that you had long forgotten about, had a healthy breakfast, or got to watch their favourite show. Small things that show how blessed their life is.

What you focus on, grows. You can find evidence of anything in your life, make sure you’re using this wisely.

The link with gratitude

The concept that you can find evidence of anything in your life is linked with gratitude. One of the biggest topics that is discussed on this blog is gratitude, because it truly is a major key to happiness. On a previous blog post, I mentioned that to me, gratitude is the ability to look at everyone and everything around you that makes your life a little easier and giving thanks. It’s also the ability to acknowledge all the messed up things that are going on in your life but still being aware and appreciative of the good

The moment that you start to focus on gratitude, you are exercising the ability to focus on the positives in your life, hence finding evidence of the fact that you have a good life. You will begin to behave accordingly, and live a life of gratitude and happiness as this is what you have decided to focus on.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians ch 5 vs 16-18

This idea that you can find evidence for anything is further illustrated by Anthony Robbins in his book “Awaken the Giant Within”. Robbins says something that is worth thinking through and meditating over in the context of this conversation:

Freudian psychoanalysis, for example, searches for those “deep, dark secrets” in our past to explain our present difficulties. Yet we all know that whatever you continually look for, you will surely find.

Anthony Robbins in Awaken the Giant Within.

This is a further illustration of the statement that what you focus on will grow. In fact, it works in each and every area of your life – success included.

Success…

If you believe that you have what it takes to be successful, you will find evidence to back this claim (such as prior success elsewhere), and this will reflect in your actions as you chase your dreams, being aware that you have what it takes to succeed.

However, it also works the other way. If you think you aren’t capable, you will always find evidence to back that claim. This could be in the form of a previously failed attempt, and you will act accordingly. You will let opportunities pass you by because of your feelings of inadequacy.

You are always going to believe something and find evidence for it, so why not let it be something empowering

But remember –

AVOID TOXIC POSITIVITY 🚫

According to Very Well Mind, toxic positivity is the belief that no matter how dire or difficult a situation is, people should maintain a positive mindset. It’s a “good vibes only” approach to life.

It’s important to know that you are allowed to feel frustrated. Sad. Angry. Betrayed. All emotions exist for a reason.  If something terrible happens in your life, you should face it, as well as the negative emotions that come with it. What you shouldn’t do, however, is dwell on it and put all your attention and focus on the negative things that are happening in your life.

A question you can ask yourself is what you are focusing the MAJORITY of your energy on. Good things happen. Bad things happen. But just because a bad thing has happened, does not mean that you have a bad life. There will be many isolated incidents in your life. You will either group together the positive and focus on that, or group together the negative and focus on that. At the end of the day, what you focus on grows. You can find evidence of anything in your life. So use that to your advantage 💕

Toxic positivity! This is a new term to me. I guess life has a fair mix of ups and downs, and while we must be positive. There are situations that are sad etc which must be processed as such positively!🌻🌻

I will focus the MAJORITY of my energy on the positive aspects of my life. Thank you Ruva. We learn from you all the time.

I have my exams for the next 2 weeks and just realized if I focus on my failure too much it will eventually become a reality. So thank you for this❤️The things you perceive will eventually become the house you live in ☺️
