Be kind

Hey Bloomers! 🌼💛 Today’s blog post is a simple reminder to be kind; to yourself as well as to others.

Be kind

Be kind to yourself

Sometimes you’re not what you consider the best version of yourself, and that’s okay. Instead of beating yourself up for where you’re at at that given point in time, approach the situation with kindness. Saying unkind things about yourself is not going to make you feel any better. In fact, you’re going to feel much worse. No one is ever going to be on their A-game 24 hours a day for all 365 days of the year. Bad days happen. Bad seasons happen.

Sometimes you know exactly what to do to get yourself out of it and other times the reality is that you don’t. The least productive thing you can do during these times if to be hard on yourself. Accept and acknowledge where you are and nurse yourself back to happiness through kindness. Tell yourself that it’s okay that you’re where you’re at in that moment. Because it is. Just as the earth has seasons, so does everything else, including our lives. So when you’re not at your best, that is the most crucial time to be kind to yourself. And to add on, don’t feel bad about prioritising your wellness.

Be kind to others

We repeatedly hear the phrase “you never know what someone is going through”, and it is extremely important to keep this phrase in your conscious mind. Someone might be having a bad day and your kindness is the little light they experience in that day.

Kindness begins with the understanding that we all struggle.

Charles Glassman

Kindness does not mean that you have to always go out of your way to be nice to people. It simply means treating others in the same way that you’d want to be treated, no matter how small that act is.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” ~ Colossians ch 3 vs 12. People should see the love of God through us, and kindness is one way of achieving that.

Be kind – Looking inward

There are many ways to be kind to others. Figure out how best you can express your kindness and be the person that spreads kindness in a world that is filled with hatred.

What are some ways in which you show kindness to yourself and others? Let’s talk about it in the comments below.

Just a smile as I do my grocery shopping often makes a big difference.
Thanks Ruva for this important reminder.

[…] Spread love, within you and around you. There is a formula to it. The only way you can be able to love others well is if you first love yourself well. The second greatest command in the Bible goes as follows: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. Hence, you are only able to give your neighbour the amount of love that you give yourself.  […]
