Do your best, and God will sort out the rest!

Hey Bloomers! 🌼💛 This blog post focuses on the idea that if you do your best, God will sort out the rest. It’s centred around God’s call for us to be in partnership with Him.

What is your “best”?

From the outset, it’s important to understand that what qualifies as “your best” often differs. Your best will vary from day to day, week to week, and even year to year. On one day, the best you’ll be able to give is 100%, and on another day, it will be 5%.  Not performing at 100% in whatever area of your life does not mean that you’re not doing your best. The failure to understand this may result in you being hard on yourself. On one day, your best may be completing all the tasks on your to-do list, and on another day, it may be completing none. And that’s okay.

Combining faith with actions

You must be able to distinguish between things that are in your control and those that aren’t. That’s how you can do your best with the assurance that God will do the rest. You should be able to do what you can (the things within your control), and then surrender the rest to God. As the Word says:

“Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed”.

~ Proverbs ch 16 vs 3 (NLT).

Act on what is in your control, and have faith for what is not. Do your best, and God will sort out the rest. Commit your actions to Him, and he will ensure that they’re a success.

Example: Someone may be worried that their business is not getting enough clients. It’s not enough for them to simply “have faith” that God will bring them clients. They need to act.

This may involve better advertisement or improving their product. They need to act in the best way that they can. However, whether their actions will actually bring in clients is not guaranteed. That’s out of their control. All they can do is have faith that God will sort out the rest, knowing that they’ve done their best.

Self-evaluation: Finding the balance

Psychology Today defines self-criticism as “the tendency to evaluate oneself harshly”. However, your self-evaluation doesn’t necessarily need to be harsh.

It’s important for you to regularly evaluate how you’re doing in the various aspects of your life, without judgement. If things are going well, then you be grateful for and appreciate that. However, if they’re not, it’s equally as important to be your own critic and figure out how things can be improved. KINDLY. Always remember to be kind to yourself in the process. You’ll then be able to take action where you can and leave the rest in God’s capable hands.

That’s the best way to find the right self-evaluation balance: Appreciate what you’re doing well, KINDLY criticise and take action on what you’re not doing well, and let God handle everything else 💛

Do your best, and God will sort out the rest.

Thank you, Ruva. I REALLY missed your insights, and I am so thrilled that my favourite blog is back. And you started with a very poignant message for me: To do my best, let God do the rest, and not be overly critical of myself. Thank you!!
