Hey Bloomers! 🌼 The beginning of a journey is extremely exciting and full of possibilities. However, as it usually goes, the journey begins to get difficult and the excitement wears off. And in that moment, you have to remember why you started.
Before starting anything
Before going on any journey, it is important to take a record of everything that’s going on. The calm before the storm. It’s important to write down what it is exactly that you want to achieve, why you want to achieve it, and how you are feeling. Prior records are helpful in so many areas of life and in this instance, they will help to take you back to a place where you were grateful and feeling happy to be in the position that you are in. When a journey gets overwhelming, we tend to forget why we started it in the first place. There was a destination that you wanted to get to, and you were happy to have the opportunity to move towards that destination. This unfortunately can get clouded by all the work that needs to be done to get to the destination. There will be obstacles along the way and an effective way of overcoming them is to remember why you started. That will push you to the end. Although you might not be exactly where you want to be, you’re much closer than you were when you started.
The uncomfortable truth
The uncomfortable truth is that the greatest things in life usually don’t come easy. The bigger your dreams are, the more time you’ll likely have to dedicate to them. If it was that easy, everyone would have done it. That’s one thing that sets people apart. Some people are willing to go all the way, and endure the hardships during the journey. Others would rather not endure the hardships and remain in their comfort zones. Nothing is wrong with either of the two. Both are valid. But if you do know that your dreams are large and extraordinary, you can’t stay in your comfort zone. You can’t expect things to be easy. You have to be prepared to do all that it takes. And in that moment when you’re tired and ready to give up, you just have to remember why you started.
This doesn’t mean that you have to neglect yourself. Self-care should always be a consideration. A top one. It’s easy to get so caught up in the journey that you forget to take care of yourself. Therefore, self-care must be a conscious decision. If you gain all that you want, but end up unhappy and unhealthy, then would it have been truly worth it? I think not. Self-care takes form in various ways, but in this specific context, self-care in the form of rest is a necessity. If you don’t take care of yourself in the name of “achieving your goals”, you might unfortunately experience burnout. That’s an unpleasant place to be in. It means that not only are you exhausted (and therefore your wellbeing is affected), but you no longer have energy to continue with the journey. Basically, you WILL rest. Whether it’s intentional or forced. And intentional rest is always the healthier and more peaceful route to go.
You will always know whether to go on or let go
There may seem to be a thin line between pushing through the struggles and forcing things 😬 Knowing the difference between the two is crucial. When you’re forcing things, you’re travelling in the wrong direction. The universe will always bring you back on the right path, but you would have wasted your precious time. On the other hand, pushing through the struggles is a way of getting to your destination, as you will be on the CORRECT PATH. You will always know whether to go on or let go. Intuition never lies.
